Security Roundtable for Cloud-Deployed Clinical Natural Language Processing

Security Roundtable for Cloud-Deployed Clinical Natural Language Processing
23-24 May 2011

All-day Monday through Tuesday at 12 p.m., Group Health Research Institute, Seattle, WA

Sponsored by: The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology's Strategic Health IT Advanced Research Projects (SHARP) Program.

This roundtable brings together nationally recognized experts in cloud computing and health information technology, stakeholders from health care organizations and research institutions, and leading cloud service providers and third-party consultants to exchange ideas and craft the outlines of a roadmap for institutions interested in processing clinical text in externally hosted computing environments ("the cloud") in a secure, verifiable, and regulatory-compliant manner.

A series of targeted presentations and guided discussions will identify salient issues, challenges, prerequisites and approaches necessary for robust, locally tailored solutions.

Motivating use case: clinical natural language processing (NLP) systems deployed in private or public clouds, tightly integrated within the local institution's existing security infrastructure for its exclusive, private use.
