Research funding
Group Health Research Institute (GHRI) has an annual budget of about $38 million and receives about 89 percent of its funds from research grants and contracts.
Nearly all direct research costs are funded by sources outside of Group Health. These funding partners are listed below.
The Institute's non-direct administrative and facilities research costs are funded by indirect revenues recovered as part of research grants, and by an annual Group Health allocation.
The Group Health allocation also supports the GHRI Development Fund, which provides direct-cost support to new areas of research that are considered high priorities for both Group Health and the Institute, but that are not typically funded by traditional external sources. This fund gives the Institute the flexibility to respond to many new and innovative research opportunities.
