Abstract:

  1. To examine how breast density changes among women who initiate, discontinue or continue using: SSRIs (with other antidepressants as a comparison group), NSAIDs, or weight loss drugs. We will complete 3 separate analyses for each drug class and will compare the results to never users.
  2. To examine whether there are differences in change in breast density among subclasses of major drug classes (e.g., differences between analgesics vs. non-steroidals).
  3. To examine whether mammographic breast density measured clinically by radiologists at the time of screening mammograms is affected by fertility drugs. To test this hypothesis, we will conduct a case-control study where we will examine breast density before and after use of fertility drugs and compare changes in breast density among an age- and time-matched control.
