Breast Cancer Surveillance at Group Health is part of a nationwide project to evaluate and improve screening for breast cancer and breast cancer outcomes.
- Group Health is a member of the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium, which has five sites across the United States. Each site collects the same kind of information on breast cancer surveillance.
- All the Breast Cancer Surveillance Consortium sites collect data from women and radiologists and radiology services. They then link those data to cancer outcomes data from local cancer and pathology registries.
- For research studies, researchers link data from all five sites to provide more and better information about breast cancer.
- The National Cancer Institute pays for this research.
