GHRI affiliates and associates named 2016 Top Docs

Each year, when Seattle Met magazine publishes its list of the best health professionals in the Puget Sound area, Group Health providers stand out. This year is no exception. And among the 50 Group Health practitioners named in the article on “Top Doctors 2016” are several Group Health Research Institute (GHRI) adjunct researchers and clinical associates.

GHRI adjunct researchers are Group Health employees or medical staff with research training who collaborate frequently on GHRI studies. Honored as Top Docs were:

  • Andy Chien, MD, Dermatology
  • Kathleen Leppig, MD, Clinical Genetics

GHRI clinical associates are Group Health colleagues who facilitate research by providing clinical expertise and leadership support. Named as Top Docs were:

  • Sean Adelman, MD, Orthopedic Surgery
  • Eric Chen, MD, Hematology and Oncology
  • Jane Dimer, MD, Obstetrics and Gynecology
  • Charles Jung, MD, Orthopedic Surgery

Dr. Michael Von Korff speaks on opioid use to statewide health group

In August, GHRI Senior Investigator Michael Von Korff, ScD, spoke at a Washington Health Alliance meeting in Seattle. Dr. Von Korff and his colleague Gary Franklin, MD, MPH, medical director for the Washington State Department of Labor and Industries, presented on geographic variation in opioid prescriptions across the state. The event was held at Cambia Grove, a hub for regional health care innovators.

Amy Lee joins GHRI faculty as a research associate

Amy Lee, MPH, is now a GHRI research associate. While earning her MPH from the University of Washington, Ms. Lee worked as a lead enrollment coordinator with Dr. Katharine Bradley at Veterans Affairs Puget Sound Health Services Research and Development. She joined GHRI after receiving her MPH in 2012 as a clinical research specialist and moved to a research interventionist position in 2015. Her work includes contributing to the Group Health Behavioral Health Integration initiative that won the 2016 Birnbaum award.
